Inner Wheel
Dist 26
Message from Chairman Jenny
September

At the time of writing this, I’m already a quarter through the Inner Wheel Year though we do tend not to do much in August; so I’ve only just starting visiting the clubs. I must say it is lovely meeting clubs in their own meeting places. It puts a context to names and faces and groups of people. In fact it would be a good introduction to Inner Wheel to go round and visit all the clubs, rather than waiting until you are District Chairman! There is so much going on, so much friendship, fun and fund-raising. So, thank you everyone for your hospitality.

I
attended the Peace Day walk and visit to Milton Keynes Buddhist Temple and Peace
Pagoda with about 20 ladies from different clubs; and this was a very moving
experience. We read some poems and listened to the Buddhist peace philosophy. It
really was very calm and peaceful and very thought-provoking. Thanks to Brenda
Lowe for organising this (see pictures). Brenda wants to try to get
International Inner Wheel to recognise this day together and I’m certainly
going to support her efforts 100%; and hope you will all support our District in
getting a proposal put to the next IIW conference in Turkey.
Thank
you all for filling in the questionnaires. They
are coming in bit by bit and I now have a big pile on my desk, but I will wait
to analyse them fully until all clubs have responded. However, they do make very
interesting reading. I wanted to find out ‘who we are’ in District 26 and
what we want. Several respondents have said they are glad to be asked their
opinions. Overwhelmingly everyone enjoys most about Inner Wheel the friendship
and opportunities to do something good in the community. It is amazing how many
diverse voluntary commitments our members have in addition to Inner Wheel. All
the relatively small things we do builds up to making a positive difference in
the lives of many people worldwide.
Yours
in friendship
Jenny Versey
