Message from the District Overseas Chairman, Joyce Gray

Hi everyone,

Let me introduce myself as the Overseas Service Chairman for the year 2007 -08.

I have served on Jeannette Lee's committee for three years and now find myself in the role as Chairman

I have been a member of Watford North Inner Wheel for 14 years and held all the officers posts and this year I am President again.

I am looking forward to my year as Overseas Chairman and hope to make new friends as well as lots of support for my charity 'The Wheelchair Foundation' and all other projects which are ongoing.

In Friendship

Joyce Gray

District Overseas Service Charity is the Wheelchair Foundation.

The Wheelchair Foundation aims to provide good quality new wheelchairs to 100 million children, teens and adults in the world who are in severe need. A donation of  £50 will be matched by a special Rotary grant and will provide a brand new wheelchair. All money raised should be sent to District Treasurer Judy Dick, on a club cheque made payable to “No.26 District Inner Wheel”, with “Wheelchair Foundation” written on the back.

Association Overseas Service Charity is UNICEF's "Born Free" appeal.

This year there is an additional charity to support, which is UNICEF’s “Born Free” appeal. The object of the project is the prevention of mother to child transference of the HIV virus during labour and delivery. Every Overseas Service Organiser ought to have information about this, and there is more on UNICEF’s website under the reference “Inner Wheel” or Click here for direct link.

Every club is asked to donate two handkerchiefs, to be sold at the stall called “Hanky Panky” at the Blackpool Conference, Apr 2008.

Baby Elizabeth, born at the Nairobi Maternity

What's new...in Overseas Service

Jeannette Lee and Sandra Maizels would like to say a very big thank you to all of you for your support last year with the District Project. To achieve 55 Aquaboxes and 20 Shelterboxes is a wonderful achievement, and both organisations have expressed their delight and thanks. [Sep 2007]
